Progress

So after only a few days on WWPP (weight watchers points plus) I've already lost a few lbs.  I didn't do an official weigh-in because I've only been on the program like 3 days but I just wanted to check and see and so far so good.  I think the fruit/veggies being free was an amazing idea and it's really helped me a lot.  Hopefully by December, I will be down about 40-45lbs so I can start looking for wedding dresses!!  :)

Weight Watchers Points Plus

So I went to a Weight Watchers center on Wednesday to find out about the Points Plus Program.  I signed up so I could get all of the starting materials and I bought a couple of books that tell you how many points things are.  I don't plan on going to meetings because they're too expensive but I did want to find out how the program worked.  It's actually easier than the old program.  Everyone gets 29 pts daily and 49 pts extra during the week.  Fruits and most veggies are free so basically if I am hungry and have run out of points for the day I can snack on fruit.  Everything has a higher points value now but if you add a lot of fruits and veggies to meals then it's not bad at all.  The other day I actually had to force myself to eat a sweet potato (4 pts because it's so starchy) just to use up my daily pts.  So it's working out well so far.  I just started so I won't officially weigh myself until next Sunday but I think if I keep at it, I should be fine.  My goal is to lose 45 lbs, although I would be happy with just 40lbs.  I want to get back into a size 6/8 so I can fit in my old jeans.  I also don't want to look like a cow in my wedding dress.  I think I should be able to do it....the thing I always suck at is the exercise part but I'm working on it.  I'll try to keep reporting weekly.

Week 1

During week 1 of my diet, I lost 3lbs.  Not too bad considering I am PMSing like crazy and indulging in all sorts of chocolate and not so good food.  Oh well.  I would like to lose twice that next week.  You're supposed to lose a lot the first week but I didn't do so well with sticking to my rules.  I need to stay away from the the sugar.  And try to work out.  I know I can do this, I've done it before.  I really just need the motivation.  I think I am going to get a picture of a wedding dress and put it on the fridge so I think twice before eating.

Anyway, on to week 2.  Wish me luck!

Diet Begins!

So I started my diet yesterday.  I'm not following any one specific diet but I am trying to adhere to the basic health rules when it comes to eating.  These are the "rules" I have created for myself:

1) I'm trying to cut out all carbs and replace them with whole wheat.

2) I'm cutting out candy.  Not all sweets but specifically candy.  I bought a package of Splenda and whole wheat flour so I can attempt to bake healthier goodies.

3) I'm eating more fruits.

4) I'm trying to have a protein (meat, beans, tofu) and veggies with my dinner every day.

5) I'm cutting out soda.

I'm hoping that with all of these rules in place I will be able to slowly get the weight off.  I'm not looking for a quick fix, I just want to get down 40lbs by the end of 2011.  It's definitely possible...I've done it before.  Wish me luck!

Diet Tricks

I got this from http://www.shape.com/shape-bride/bride-to-be-diet-plans/10-last-ditch-diet-tricks.  It seemed like these might be some helpful and easy tips that I can add into my daily routine without feeling like I'm on a "diet".

1) Flatten your belly with fiber
2) Add healthy bacteria
3) Have more Vitamin C
4) Swap carbs for spinach
5) Eat chilis to burn fat
6) Have fruit for dessert
7) Eat avocados
8) Don't drink alcohol
9) Drink caffeine before workouts
10) Cut back on high-sugar foods

My Plan

So I've decided to wait until after the holidays to start my diet.  Casey's dad is coming the first week of January and I know we are going to wind up going to dinner.  I don't want to feel deprived so I am going to wait until after he goes home to start.  Which means I am allowed to pig out for another 2 weeks or so.  Then I need to get my act together.

40 lbs in 1 year

I'm getting married on August 12, 2012.  Within the next year (by December 2011), I would like to lose 40 lbs so I can try on dresses and not feel completely gross about it.  I've done Weight Watchers before successfully so I am going to try to do that again.  In this blog, I'm going to write all about my struggles.  I'll also post progress pictures and recipes that are healthy.  Wish me luck!!
